My name is Emily Martin and I am extremely happy to be working at Sawtooth Elementary and excited to work with each of you in the Gifted and Talented program. I am originally from Twin Falls, Idaho. I graduated from Kimberly High School in 2008. After graduation, I attended the College of Southern Idaho. While attending CSI, I had several opportunities to travel overseas to teach English. These times were enriching and have helped to expand my cultural horizons. After CSI, I transferred to Western Governors University where I received a Bachelor of Education degree in K-8 Interdisciplinary Studies. I also received a Master of Education degree from Western Governors in Curriculum and Instructional Design. I am currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program at Grand Canyon University. The degree that I am working on is in General Psychology with an emphasis on Integrating Learning and Technology. This program is the perfect fit for me as I am fascinated with how people learn, what makes learning effective, and how learning has shifted with the integration of technology in the classroom. I expect to graduate with my Ph.D. in 2021.
My husband is also a Twin Falls native. We have two cats named Loki and Hundo. I enjoy spending my (limited!) free time with friends and family, attending plays, and reading.
This year is going to be exciting! I am looking forward to engaging in creative learning, fun, and getting to know each and every one of my students.
